Happy birthday to me...

Well, I have made it to 28 and have decided to make some changes in my life. Things started normal enough this morning: I woke up with the sunshine and birds, was serenaded by my mom and opened my present: "Eats, Shoots and Leaves," Sense and Sensibility on DVD, the Harry Potter 5-pack and a cheque to go toward my hair-colour correction (I'm going back to my natural brown--Kristin Davis brown.) My parents have finally made peace with the notion that I love books and period flicks.

Here's where the life changes begin: the Detroit Marathon is October 23 and I WILL be going to Bally's and/or doing some kind of physical exercise/training every day until then. I located a good half-marathon training schedule and I probably will reach the finish line in one piece. Then I went shopping, bought a pair of Steve Madden shoes (black heels with pink edging. Very cute.) And the most perfect piece of Godiva Chocolate--the praline clamshell. Here's change #2: I need to do something wonderful and relaxing for myself, like the Godiva, at least a few times a week. Even going to the library and relaxing in the cool quiet would work.

Also, I'm going to start going to yoga classes at Bally's. I need some physical, mental and spiritual help as well.

Well dammit! You people keep springing this birthday crap on us without warning! Or I missed the warning (which is entirely possible!). In any case--HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN!! Sounds like it's been a good one so far! (Any chance of a HNT submission in your birthday suit?)

Good luck with the training stuff. I've got 20 years on you, and I still don't have the discipline to even attempt any of that stuff!

Awesome... completing a marathon is an accomplishment I toy with often. I will stick with triathlons for now since I don't know that my feet can take 26.2 miles of pounding. Best of luck with training. I treat myself to ice cream regularly, with or without working out.

Congrats on your birthday. The punctuation book is good and I remember when I was 28. Seems like so long ago. I guess I ought to watch my comments from now on too as the punctuation police will be watching.

I just worked my second marathon as a medical provider. It is awesome but I will never run that far. The changes you are making sound good though. I turn 28 this fall and hope to be putting more and more pieces together in my life. Keep up the good work and Happy Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday, Jen. An ounce of alcohol for every year. It can be beer if you like. If I drank an ounce of hard liquor for each of my years I'd slip into an alcoholic coma.
